  • Read some simple love poems.
  • View popular Spanish quotations, proverbs and sayings about love.
  • Write a "love letter" in Spanish.

First, use the links below to read about topics related to Valentine's Day.  Answer questions 1-8 with complete sentences.  Then complete the composition at the end of this lesson.

To receive an A on this assignment, your answers must be very complete, well written in Spanish, and in your own words. 

Read about the history of Valentine’s Day.   Then answer these questions.

Now you will spend some time reading some citas (quotations) and proverbios (proverbs) about love.  Click on the links to read them.  When you have finished, copy your favorite cita and proverbio here.

The next section is about poetry.  You will be using the section called Jarchas.  If you have time, look at all of the other poetry on the page.

  2. ¿Te gusta el amor?  ¿Por qué sí o no?  Contesta con por lo menos 5 frases.  (Answer with at least 5 sentences.)

 

Composition

Now that you have read some romantic sayings and poetry about el amor, write a ten-sentence love letter, Valentine's Day card, or love poem in Spanish.  Remember to use the vocabulary page for help.
