José Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913)
Famous for his woodcuts depicting skeletons in all phases of life, José Guadalupe Posada is closely associated with the Day of the Dead. Posada is a Mexican artist whose work expressed the theme of vanity in the face of death. He was a supporter of the downtrodden. Much of his work included figures of the Day of the Dead, mocking the social and political events of the time. Visit these sites about Posada:
