NOTE if you are calling from a cell phone, do NOT
bother leaving a message on my voice mail. Most of the messages
I get from cell phones are unintelligible. The best way to reach me is by
e-mail, live telephone conversation, or dropping in during my office hours.

If you've got a dollar and you spend twenty-nine cents on a loaf of bread,
you've got seventy-one cents left. But if you've got seventeen grand and
you spend twenty-nine cents on a loaf of bread, you've still got seventeen
grand. There's a math lesson for you.

Our advice? Forget about grades. Enjoy life. Skip a
few classes.

CHM 101
Are you hoping to enroll in CHM101 without the prerequisite CHM114
(or equivalent) course?
#1 You need to see a
counselor to obtain a Prerequisite Appeal Petition
#2 Here are
some other points you should consider.
(Note that at almost every community college in the state of California, high
school chemistry is accepted as the prerequisite; this is not the official
policy at LTCC. However, unofficially, LTCC will accept high school
chemistry--with a grade of "B" or better--as the "pre-req" for CHM101.)

JOB OPPORTUNITY for CHEMISTRY STUDENT:
The South Tahoe Public
Utilities District is looking for a weekend lab technician; you probably
need at least one year of General Chemistry with respectable grades to qualify.

Community
College Institute Internship Program
This program places students from community colleges in paid internships
in Science and Engineering and Technology at any of several different locations
(see Choosing a Lab). Because of the comprehensive nature of this program,
many of the participants have felt it has had an enormous influence on their
careers. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to
the laboratories' research programs. They also attend career planning and
numerous training/informational sessions. The different laboratories each offer
different research opportunities (see
Choosing a Lab)
