Assignment: In a paper of 1 and 1/2 pages in length (and a 12 point times or times new roman font, double-spaced), I will ask you to write the following essay that is related to our readings, class discussions and films. Your final examination will be a response to this question. I will be grading the paper on grammar, spelling, content, length and success in responding to the question. The Essay:

(1) This essay relates to Chapter 15, "Social Change, Technology and the Future." In your essay, refer to the section "New Social Movements - the Vehicles for Social Change" and write an essay that applies two of the theories (please note: not the movement types) listed in the section. You will find these after, "There are four major theories that sociologists utilize to understand new social movements." Using these two theories, explain how each relates to a new social movement of your choice. You may need to search the Internet for examples of new social movements (but do not quote anything from the Internet). Be sure to explain how the new social movement relates, specifically, to each of the two theories that you have chosen.
