<Background: In addition to the problematic interpretations of gender found in popular advertising, one can locate specific emphases on values in other ads. The specific values seem to be focused on consumption and identity formation as related to living in a capitalist society. The Ads:  Image 40 has been he subject of much controversy. The Chinese advertising company used Nazi symbols to sell products.  Questions: (1) What specific values are raised in the following ads? (2) Do the themes and values represented by these ads parallel those of the other (gendered) ads from other exhibits? >
