COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to spreadsheet applications using Microsoft Excel 2002. Students will learn how to design, develop, and format electronic spreadsheets and how to present data through the creation of charts. Intermediate topics include lists, pivot tables, macros, and multiple sheet workbooks. Emphasis will be placed on practical business applications.

CAO 110 Microcomputer Applications or equivalent

Students must be proficient in the Windows environment

 

STUDENT OUTCOMES:

ATTENDANCE

Students are expected to attend all class meetings. There will be no make up exams except in the event of an emergency or illness, in which case the student must contact the instructor before the exam is held.

 

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

Homework assignments are designed to reinforce the learning that takes place in the classroom. Students are expected to spend several hours per week outside of class working on hands-on homework assignments. These assignments should be completed in the college computer labs or off-campus if students have their own access to computers and software. Homework assignments must be turned in to the instructor at the beginning of class on the due date. Late assignments will not be accepted, except in the event of emergency or illness.

 

EXAMS

The midterm and final will be written, computer hands-on, open book exams that will test the student's understanding (not memorization) of important concepts and skills learned in the classroom.

 

 

GRADING

Final grades will be determined by points earned on homework assignments and exams. Course points will be distributed as follows:

NOTE: This course can be taken with the Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) option.

            The deadline for applying for CR/NC status is noon on Friday 5/2.

 

DISHONESTY POLICY
Homework and exams must be completed by each individual student. Joint work, sharing assignments, or cheating will result in a grade of F for the course.
