Lake Tahoe Community College, in partnership with the Foothill/DeAnza Community College District, is offering an exciting quarter at the ACCENT Paris Center during the Spring Quarter, 2007.  

Application deadline:  November 30, 2006

Immerse yourself in experiential learning - Explore French monuments, churches, museums and galleries, as Paris becomes an extension of your classroom while you attend History, Art and Humanities classes with visiting and local faculty.

What courses are available?

Students will have the opportunity to choose from for-credit coursework that includes Art, French Literature, and French Language.  LTCC’s instructor David Foster  is among the instructors who will be teaching in Paris.  For a full list and description of courses and program faculty biographies, please click here.  All students are required to take French Life and Culture, a 2-credit pass/fail course that will include fieldtrips throughout Paris and surrounding areas. 

Transferable Academic Credit

Students may earn 12 to 15 units of college credit from Lake Tahoe Community College, Foothill, or De Anza College. All courses are transferable to the University of California and California State University systems. 

What else is included in the Paris Program?

LTCC and Foothill/DeAnza are working with the American Institute For Foreign Study(AIFS).  The AIFS program includes:

  • Double room in a student residence and double/triple/quad rooms on overnight excursions.

  • Half board daily (breakfast & lunch or dinner)

  • Two one-day excursions to Chartres and Versailles, including transportation and guided visits

  • One three-day, two-night excursion to Normandy/Brittany, including hotel stay, transportation and guided visits

  • Cultural activity series including an evening ballet, concert or opera performance

  • Museum and monument entrance fees for class visits and excursions

  • Orientation program and boat tour of Paris

  • Paris transit pass (Carte Orange)

  • Overseas information and resource center with ACCENT Paris on-site staff

  • International Student Identity Card with limited overseas travel and accident insurance

  • Transfers from and to Paris airport for group flight participants

How much will my educational adventure cost?

$5,950 (not including airfare) plus a $200 refundable security deposit

Is financial aid available for this trip?

Financial aid is available for those who qualify.  Please contact Julie Cathie, Director of Financial Aid.

What other costs will I need to consider for my study abroad experience in London?

The ACCENT program does not include:

  • Round-trip airfare from U.S. (estimated airfare $900 - $1,200)

  • LTCC, Foothill or DeAnza tuition and fees

  • Optional, single room supplement ($850)

  • Personal expenses, books, passports, visas, and anything not listed as included

  • Meals except as specified

  • Passport fees

  • Required medical insurance 

Are there any requirements for participation in the Paris Program?

Students must be at least 18 year of age as of the program start date, have a current grade point average of at least 2.5, and register for a minimum of 12 units (which includes the 2-unit mandatory French Life and Culture Course).
