What are the program dates? August 31 through September 13,2005When is the application deadline? April 1, 2005 What is the course work and how many units will I earn from LTCC? Students will have the opportunity to earn 7 units of LTCC credit for Art 132 BF, which will be taught by LTCC art chair David Foster who can be reached at Foster@ltcc.edu or (530) 541-4660, Ext. 228. This study will emphasize an understanding of the role art has played in shaping our lives and esthetics through examination of the rich heritage of French art and culture while living in France. The fourteen-day tour will begin with exploring the beauty and excitement of Paris. First highlighting sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Basilica of St. Denis, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Louvre, Musee Picasso and many more. Trips to the medieval Versailles, the Old Town of Chartres, and Rouen in Normandy are included as well. Please find a detailed itinerary below. Program Fee: $2,914 ($100 discount if applied by Jan. 31, 2005) An application fee of $95.00 (non-refundable) is currently being accepted. A Second payment of $400 deposit is due 30 days after enrolling. The balance of $2,419 is due April 1st, 2005. Who will lead this trip? David Foster, program instructor and tour leader, holds an M.A. in sculpture from San Francisco State University and a B.S. in Art from the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Foster is the Chairman of Art at Lake Tahoe Community College and professor of Art History, Drawing, Design, Painting and Sculpture since 1976. As a practicing and exhibiting artist, Mr. Foster produces bronze and marble sculpture. Since 2001 he has emphasized marble carving in Pietrasanta, Italy and his Lake Tahoe studio. His European travel experience began in 1989 with a sabbatical studying the art and museums of France, Italy, Belgium and Holland; and in following years studies to Spain, England, Germany, Austria and Greece. Mr. Foster has conducted summer study abroad programs in Paris and Ilde de France in 1995, 1996, 2000; Italy in 1997 and 2002; and Greece in 1999.
