Partner Organizations and Course Dates

LTCC offers Spanish courses in Spain with the organization Don Quijote and in Mexico with Uninter and Don Quijote.  The Don Quijote courses are 3 weeks in duration and students may begin on any Monday.  If you are just beginning Spanish and have not taken any Spanish classes in the past, there are pre-determined dates to begin.  Uninter courses are 2 or 3 weeks in duration and also begin on any Monday.  Students may study up to 27 weeks, taking several courses back to back.

Transferable Credit

For each 3-week course you can earn 5 transferable quarter units.  Units are basically the same as credits.  LTCC is on a quarter system and the units are translated to semester systems as 3 and 1/3 credits.  It is important to meet with a counselor at your college to understand how the units will transfer to your institution.  Transferability varies greatly from institution to institution.

Costs

Students taking Spanish classes through LTCC receive a substantial discount rather than enrolling through Don Quijote or UNINTER directly.  Students enrolling through LTCC will only pay for LTCC enrollment ($17 per unit and a $4 health fee, a total of $106 for a 3-week course for California residents – please check LTCC Website for out-of-state resident fees).  This saves the student approximately $500.

As of March 13, 2006 (Spring Quarter), students will pay a $15 materials fee for each 3-week Don Quijote course.

Students will pay DQ or UNINTER directly for accommodations and all other optional services.

Eligibility

Anyone can sign up to study Spanish in Spain and Mexico through LTCC as long as you are at minimum of 18 years of age or a high school graduate.  You do not have to be currently enrolled at LTCC.  Students are only eligible for the program if they are at a Spanish level of 101 (beginning) through 212 (advanced).  Other courses are not eligible through this program.  Course repeatability is not allowed.  For example, if you have already completed SPA 101 at LTCC and passed with a C or higher, you are not eligible for this class again.
