David currently directs the four productions each season (he has passed his 70th)  as well as teaches classes in acting, improvisation, voice, Introduction to Theatre, History of Film and others. He received an MFA in acting from UC Davis, an MA in Drama from San Diego State and a BA in Drama from CSU Sacramento. He has performed professionally in the Bay Area with theatres such as Berkeley Repertory, Marin Theatre Company and Shakespeare San Francisco and more recently played Quentin in Arthur Miller's After the Fall as a guest artist at San Joaquin Delta College, Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Bob in Beyond Therapy at the Boathouse Theatre  and was able to perform at the historic Piper's Opera House in Virginia City playing the Doctor in Sondheim's Passion. Dave also co-wrote, produced and directed three original full length musicals with Music Director Mark Williams; Beauty, a standard book musical, Guilty Pleasures a Tahoe oriented musical review and Lysistrata's War, a rock opera based on the ancient Greek play Lysistrata. Lysistrata's War was performed by the college at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, summer 2005, where it received 3 and 4 star reviews and will perform at the fringe Festival in Victoria B.C. summer 2008.

As an instructor, Dave has been very involved in the issues of college teaching. He has attended the Great Teacher’s Seminar and Berkeley Institute for teaching as well as other teaching and learning workshops. He is a certified Instructional Skills Workshop facilitator, and also conducts other workshops for the college. In 2002 David received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) award of excellence for teaching. He has been involved with the California Educational Theatre Association as both an officer and board member  and also received the 2002 award for theatre educator of the year from the northern division. In 2001 he started a summer theatre institute at LTCC to help participants become better theatre teachers.
