Given a formula, be able to solve for a variable.  Know the formula for perimeter of a rectangle, and the D=RT formula.

Chapter 2.4 & Chapter 5 material:  Be able to remove (factor out) the GCF from an expression.  Be able to factor a trinomial like a2 + 9a + 14  or x2 - 25.  I'll give you formulas for factoring a sum or difference of cubes.  Be able to use a discriminant to determine whether or not an expression can be factored.  Know how to use the Zero Factor Theorem, and the ac test to factor expressions like 2n2  -n -3 = 0, or M2 + 30M + 200 = 0.  Know how to use the Pythagorean Theorem.

Chapter 6 & 7 material:  Know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide with fractions.  Know the process for finding the LCD, and which operations you need the LCD for.  Be able to solve an equation that contains a rational expression.  Know how to solve a proportion.   I'll ask one word-problem involving distance, rate & time.

Chapter 8 & 9 material:  Go back over equations and inequalities involving Absolute Value.  Know how to simplify expressions involving radicals, and how to rationalize a denominator.  Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide with radicals & exponents.  Be able to convert a radical into its exponential equivalent, and vice-versa.  Know the Product & Quotient rules for radicals and exponents.  Know how to simplify an expression containing a rational exponent Eg:  (310)1/2  and to solve an equation with a radical or exponent.  Be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide & simplify complex numbers.  Know how to write a complex numbe in 'a+bi' form.

Chapter 10 material Be able to complete the square, use the even-root property and the Quadratic Formula to solve an equation.

Your exams and quizzes over the quarter will make an excellent study-guide.
