Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: Students requiring accommodations for a certain disability that may affect class performance are requested to schedule with a staff member at the DRC to discuss this during the first week of the quarter so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

How to succeed in a Math class:

1.  Come to every class meeting.

2.  Arrive early, get yourself settled and be ready when class starts.  Sit where you won’t be                    distracted and take notes.

3.  Read each section before it is discussed in class.

4.  Do all the homework

5.  Do some math every day.

6.  Start preparing for exams at least one week in advance.

7.  Ask questions, especially if you don’t understand a concept.

8.  Take advantage of tutors and office hours.

9.      Study in groups and do your homework with a classmate.

Method of Evaluation:

Homework must be completed and turned in at the beginning of the next class.

Please be neat and show your work for each homework problem.

Each assignment that is incomplete receives partial credit.

Homework that is turned in late but within one week of the due date will receive half credit.

Homework turned in after this receives no credit.   Homework is 10% of the class grade.

If you know you will be absent you should hand in your homework before it is due (on campus at the Student Drop Box).

2 Quizzes are given for each course.  Each quiz counts for 20% of the class grade for the course.  All students are to take the quiz on the same day.  If you miss a quiz, there is a penalty of one letter grade.  No quiz can be made up after 3 days.

The Final Exam is given at the end of each course.  All students must take the exam by the last day of class.  If a student does not receive a passing grade in 187A, that student will not be allowed to continue on to 187B.  The exam counts for 50% of the class grade for that course.

Each course receives a separate grade.  Grades are based on the following scale.

            A            90% - 100%

            B            80% - 89%

                        70% - 79%

            D            60% - 69%

Calculators are not allowed for this class.

Course Schedule:            We will cover two sections per day, except on quiz days.

Homework: EOO means do every other odd problem.
