This course is a study group to support the students taking

Math 152B, Beginning Algebra (Part II). In this class, we will go over any questions from the

material recently presented in your regular Math 152B class and then we will work on homework problems answering questions as we go along. We will cover the material taught earlier in the day in the Math 152B class which meets MWF 11:00 - 12:10. However, Math 184 is open to any Math 152B student.

CO-REQUISITE: This class should be taken concurrently with Math 152B.

GRADING POLICY:

Method of Student Evaluation

Each Wednesday, students will turn in written work based on the material covered the week before. Each of these assignments is worth 10 points. There will be a total of 90 points possible since one assignment will be dropped and no work will be collected during the first week. There is no final exam for this class.

The problems to be handed in will be selected based on the questions asked by the students each day, therefore if you miss a class, the assigned problems will be posted on the bulletin board outside of my office (room A204). Missing a class will not excuse you from handing in the homework on time.

Your grade will be based on your percentage of the possible points.

If you receive 70% or more of the possible points, you will receive a grade of Credit. Anyone with less than 70% of the possible points, will receive a grade of No Credit.

1. You must register for this class at the Office of Admissions and Records by January 14.

2. The last day to drop the class with no record is Friday, January 28.

3. The last day to drop the class for a "W" grade is Friday, March 3.

4. After March 3, if you are enrolled, you will receive a grade of either Credit or No Credit. (Incomplete, is only allowed in special cases).

In this class, it is your responsibility to drop the class in order to avoid a grade. You must go to the registrar by the above dates to avoid a grade from option three or four.

Make-up Policy: Late work will not be accepted but you are able to drop your lowest score.

1) Come to every class meeting.

2) Arrive early, get yourself settled and be ready when class starts. Sit where you won't be distracted.

3) Read each section before it is discussed in class.

4) Do all of the homework.

5) Do some math every day.

6) Start preparing for tests at least a week in advance.

7) Take advantage of tutors and office hours, extra help can make a big difference.

8) Do some review every time you study math.

Friday (in Room A204) 10:00 - 11:00

TUTORING: Tutoring is available in the Gateway Math Center in Room G4 in the portable buildings near the PE classrooms. Tutoring hours are posted in your classroom.

LEARNING DISABLED STUDENTS:

It is important that students, identified as learning disabled,

speak with Jane about their special needs.
