2002 Instructor: Janine Bouyssounouse Prerequisite: Desire to learn math. 35% Homework:
25% Final:
40% Quizzes: There will be at least 2 quizzes usually occurring on Wednesdays. Homework: Homework will be collected on the day of the quiz or final. The last day to turn in homework is the last day of each mini course (10/16/02, 11/18/02, 12/11/02). Completing homework before quizzes and tests will provide practice and may make tests and quizzes seem easier than if the homework was not done. Homework assignments for each section are the odd
problems from the exercises for any section covered in the chapter. This
includes the “To Think About” and “Cumulative Review” problems. Final: There will be a comprehensive final exam given on the last day of each mini course. 181A 10/16/02 181B 11/18/02 181C 12/11/02 Attendance: Regular attendance in class is an obligation assumed by every student at the time of his/her registration. Students will still be responsible for the work missed because of their absence. Homework questions will be answered in class. This can be very helpful in understanding the material, as well as preparing for quizzes and tests. Please familiarize yourself with the sections to be covered in class before attending class. Missed Exams/Quizzes: Since the mini courses are over so quickly, there will be no quiz or final exam make-ups. Please take all quizzes and the final. Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: Students requiring accommodations for a certifiable disability should contact the instructor so arrangements can be made. It is also important for students who have always had an extremely difficult time with math to speak to the instructor. How to Succeed in a Math Class:
Tutoring: Tutoring is available in the Gateway Math Center (GMC) in Room G4 in the portable buildings near the photography lab. Calculators: Calculators are not allowed for use in this course. Tentative Schedule:
