Algebra for College Students, Auvil Course Description:
A primary focus for this course will be the important concept of the
function. Quadratic, exponential,
and logarithmic functions will be studied.
Additional topics include: linear and quadratic equations and systems of
equations, sequences and series, and the conic sections. Prerequisite:
Math 152B (or an equivalent course) with a grade of ‘C’ or better or
a satisfactory score on the Mathematics Assessment. Method of Student Evaluation:

below 60% Exam Policy:
Students may take an exam early only with a good reason. If a student
misses a scheduled exam they must make it up, but there will be a 10% penalty
unless it can be demonstrated that the absence was unavoidable. Calculators:
A scientific calculator is essential.
A graphics calculator is even better.
If
you plan on taking College Algebra and/or Calculus, then a TI-85 or TI-86 is
recommended. Sections Covered:
The
following sections in the text will be covered: 6.4 – 6.6, 7.1, 8.1 – 8.7, all of Chapter 10, 11.4 and
11.8, 12.1 – 12.5.
