Lake Tahoe Community College SLO Committee Meeting Wednesday, February 20, 2008 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm Tallac Room Minutes
Members Present: Kurt Green, Beachy Orr, Rosie Hackett and Jon Kingsbury Absent: Lisa Foley Staff: Terry Livesay (minutes submitted by Jon Kingsbury)
Items discussed: 1) Approval of minutes from February 6 meeting: Approved by consensus
2) Start evaluation process of new courses submitted: The committee reviewed the original 14 courses that were submitted for SLOs and MASLOs which resulted in all 14 being moved forward.
3) Evaluation of Resubmitted Courses: The committee reviewed three resubmitted courses that resulted in one being moved forward and the other two being held for excessive SLOs. Kurt will try to meet with the faculty member to discuss them and if unavailable the two courses will be moved forward as they are presently structured.
4) Other items: a) Kurt requested that Beachy and Jon be available at the upcoming science/business division meeting to provide data on the progress of the SLO committee and to offer additional support to Larry Green on his presentation of the assessment process. Kurt will be responsible for the arts/humanities division meeting. Beachy noted that division meetings have more relevance now that their agendas have been changed to address the more pressing issues of SLOs and MASLOs. b) It was decided that committee members needed to have their assigned program-level SLOs evaluated by the next meeting so that the committee could review them and move these forward for inclusion in next year’s catalog. c) The committee also discussed their concern over the challenges facing the college to develop and fund a systematic approach to connecting and assessing course-level SLOs with program-level SLOs and with institutional core competencies. d) Rosie raised the issue of the many adjunct-led programs and how the college plans to support these programs as they face the same challenges. Jon questioned if the college’s budget provided support for all program-level assessment.
Meeting was adjourned at 2:50pm. |
