CAMPUS ABROAD PROGRAM
Salamanca, Spain
August 17, 2001
Dear Salamanca Student:
The purpose of this letter is to explain admission and registration
procedures and to give you some important dates and times. Hopefully this letter
will answer your questions.
ADMISSION
Enclosed in this packet you will find registration materials for Foothill-DeAnza
and an application for admission and registration materials for Lake
Tahoe. If you are a Lake Tahoe student you must apply for admission to both
Foothill and DeAnza. This can be done on-line at http://www.foothillcollege.org.
Please do this as soon as possible. If you are a Foothill-DeAnza student, you
must complete the enclosed admission application for Lake Tahoe Community
College. The Lake Tahoe Student Certification Form must be completed and
returned with the application for admission. Admission simply means you are
applying to be admitted to the college. Once admitted, then you can register for
classes.
REGISTRATION
Please remember that you must be registered for 12 units while participating
in the program. Six of those units must be from your home school; the other six
can be taken from any college including your home school. All students are
required to take the two units humanities course on Spanish Life and Culture.
This is a Lake Tahoe course; therefore, all Foothill-DeAnza students will need
to take this course from Lake Tahoe. You will find that you will probably
register for 13-14 units. We would advise that you not take more than 15 units
while in Salamanca.
Registration forms have been included for Foothill-DeAnza and Lake Tahoe.
Course description pages are also included.
Please note that, if you are paying by check, you may have to submit 3
checks. You may also use your credit card. Tally your fees due carefully and
make out a check for that amount payable to the appropriate college
Please submit all registration forms to the appropriate Campus Abroad
Coordinator by September 1, 2001. Do NOT
attempt to register for specific classes online at Foothill/De Anza. Send
your registration forms in by mail, and Art Turmelle will enroll you in the
classes you requested.

PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION
A pre-departure orientation will be held on Saturday, September 29 from
10:00 am to 1:00pm at Consumnes River College in Sacramento. An agenda
and directions will be sent at a later date. This is a very important meeting as
representatives from AIFS will be present to give you an overview of their
services in Salamanca and to answer any questions you might have. The faculty as
well as the program coordinators will also be present. If you cannot attend,
please send someone. Of course family members are welcome.
If you have any questions, please call or e-mail either coordinator.
