Hello All -
I received some questions regarding the edition of the textbook. Both the 5th or 6th
edition of the textbook will be OK for the class. Hope you all have kept up with the
reading and are learning the definitions and illustrations. Don't worry if a few of the
illustrations that you need to know (illustration list available on this website)
aren't in the 5th edition textbook. You can learn to identify them from the slide lectures.
Assignment:
Choose a simple object you use in daily life--a pencil, spoon, a key, a
toothbrush. Find a way to decorate or embellish this object to suit your own aesthetic impulse.
Write a brief paragraph explaining why you chose to decorate the object in the
manner that you have. How does it reflect your aesthetic impulse. Describe the materials and processes used in decorating the object.
Make sure it is small enough to pack. Bring the decorated object and
written paragraph with you to the first class meeting in Salamanca.
