Important Message

(This is a copy of the message from the Photo 5 class web site.)

Hello All,

There is an assignment at the bottom of this important message.

If you attended the Sacramento orientation session, you know that due to the
overwhelming enrollment in PHOT 5, we added another section. The new section will be offered in place of PHOT 10 Tuesday 5-8 PM. Due to the limited physical classroom size in Salamanca, it would be beneficial to all of us, if enrollment were evenly dispersed (appx. 20 students) between the 2 sections. This will enable me to give each student more individual attention. If the time of the new section works with your schedule, please email me at: roneh@earthlink.net for me to switch you. No additional paperwork is necessary as long as you were initially enrolled in the original PHOT 5. Those who have already transferred to the Tuesday 5-8PM section are:

1. Kimberly Nolen
2. Elizabeth (Stacy) Krebs
3. Martin Christiansen
4. Diana Christiansen
5. Blakely Hume
6. Phil Marsick
7. Mandy Baker
8. Patricia Fromm
9. Travis Lambert

Second item of business: Equipment & Supplies
Please make sure your camera is in working condition before our departure. Change the camera battery if it hasn't been changed in the last 6 months. If you don't already have a UV or Skylight filter for your lens, you might want to get one before we leave. The filter protects your lens from getting scratched.

You can shoot print film, slide film or digital for the class. If shooting print film, I recommend Kodak Maxx for this class. You can shoot either color or B&W print film. If you choose B&W make sure it is the type of B&W film that gets processed in
color chemistry (C-41 process). If shooting slide film, contact me for film recommendations. If shooting digital, make sure you have some method of output (i.e. laptop monitor, portable printer, or service bureau) I am told there might be a Kinko's equivalent in Salamanca that may offer digital output services.

The print sleeves should be for 4x6 inch prints. Get appx. 10 to start with. The negative sleeves aren't critical to have, but if you choose to get them, get appx 10-12.

The photo album is for the final project. I would recommend you waiting until we get to Salamanca to purchase this. Your final project can take many different forms. Until you finalize your concept, I would wait until purchasing the housing of your visual diary.

If you have the camera's written manual please bring it with you.
