SPA 101 Online Course
Before starting the course content,
please take
some time to check that the computer you will be using for the course is
compatible with the technology required to complete all assignments.
Quia Books Lab Manual - Check our online laboratory manual. It is required for the class and most of your "class activities" will take place here. You will need to purchase this online lab manual.

You can preview the lab manual before you actually buy it. I recommend that you do this as soon as possible. If this lab manual will not work with your computer, you will not be able to participate in this class.
Here is how you can do the preview. From the Quia Books homepage, http://books.quia.com/books/ , go to the Bookstore. Then fill in the blanks for discipline (Spanish) and title (Puntos de partida). Hit search. You should have a few choices that appear. Be sure to choose the Laboratory Manual for the 8th edition.

Click on it. When the new page appears you will notice some tabs at the top of the page which read "Back" "Prev Page" "Next Page." Click on "Next Page" to navigate through some of the preview pages. Your screen should read Vocabulario: Preparación, CAPÍTULO 1. Click on any of the little green circles with microphones in them. This will begin the audio files needed to complete the activities.
You must be able to hear the sound files when you click on the microphone icons.
Etudes NG Course Delivery Program & Teaching Environment
Take a look at the Etudes portal (the portal is where you go to login to class each time) and review the minimum requirements needed to use Etudes. Begin here: http://etudes-ng.fhda.edu/portal
Click on SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS. It is important that your browser complies with Etudes. Follow the steps. Also check the system requirements for Etudes.

Click on "Choose one" in the left-hand column and choose "Capítulo preliminar." "Ante todo" will appear. Choose one of the quizzes from the left-hand column and see if you can take it and submit. Did it work?
Next, try some audio files. Once again in the left-hand column, choose Course-wide Content - Textbook Audio. Click on the link below "Primera parte: Saludos y expresiones de cortesía" (608.OK). You should be able to hear a series of dialogues in Spanish.
It is very important that you can hear the sound when clicking on the microphone icons.
This will be "my voice" in this class.
